Go!Girl Beach Safety

Go!Girl warns visitors to know the tide and watch waves. Don’t get caught surrounded by water when the tide comes in or knocked down by waves.

Our old friend Go!Girl would like to remind folks who have friends and family coming to visit that the Pacific Ocean can be unforgiving. If you see someone doing something potentially deadly, they may not know about the danger they are in. Be friendly but let them know they should NEVER turn their back on the ocean.

Here are some tips to share: Stay back from the cliff edge when sea-watching; cliffs are often undercut and may readily crumble. Watch for unusually high waves (“sneaker waves”) that can suddenly run up the beach or readily wash over jetties and rocks; be especially cautious around cliffs, jetties, and rocks. Stay off driftwood and logs in the water or on the beach within reach of the waves.
