Marshfield’s wrestling team took the first-day lead in the Class 4A District 3 regional tournament on Friday at Hidden Valley High School near Grants Pass.

The Pirates scored 133 points, while second-place Mazama had 94, with the semifinals on tap Saturday morning.

Marshfield got 13 wrestlers through to the semifinals. The top four finishers in each weight class will advance to the state tournament next weekend in Portland.

The Marshfield wrestlers in the semifinals include Kody Koumentis (113 pounds), Colton West and Frankie Harlow (120), Peyton Forbes (132), AJ Lira (138), Willy Jantzer (145), Garrett Lefebvre (152), Will Forbes (160), Travis Wittlake (170), Aiden Adams (182), Tyler Post and Alvaro Ruiz (220), Phillip Hernandez (285).

Siuslaw was in seventh place with 55.5 points and four wrestlers in the semifinals: Brady Libby (106), Richard Huff (120), Riley Jennings (170) and Christian Newlan (195),

North Bend was ninth with 31.5 points. Two Bulldogs advanced to the semifinals: Coltyn Ringen (132) and Grady Hampel (182).

Brookings-Harbor had one wrestler reach the semifinals, Jon Zebadua (182). The Bruins were in 11th place out of the 12 teams, ahead of South Umpqua.
