Marshfield’s boys and girls golf teams both ranked second among all teams in their classification in terms of their work in the classroom.
The Pirates were second in the Oregon School Activities Association’s Academic All-State program for Class 4A-3A-2A-1A and several other Marshfield teams also finished in the top 10.
Marshfield’s girls had a 3.86 grade point average that trailed just St. Mary’s of Medford, a Class 3A school (3.92).
Marshfield’s boys had a team GPA of 3.65, with Brookings-Harbor third (3.60) and North Bend seventh (3.52). North Valley, a Class 4A school, topped boys golf teams with a 3.67 GPA.
Earlier this school year, Marshfield’s dance team, the Upbeats, had the top GPA of any dance program in the state (3.83).
This spring, Marshfield was seventh in softball (3.66).
Brookings-Harbor was seventh (3.45) and Marshfield 10th (3.36) in baseball.
Pacific’s state champion boys track and field team ranked seventh for Class 1A (3.53).
North Bend’s girls tied for 10th in Class 4A for track and field (3.55).
North Bend was seventh (3.52) and Marshfield eighth (3.50) in boys tennis for Class 4A-3A-2A-1A (they were third and fourth among Class 4A teams).
North Bend’s band was seventh in Class 4A (3.43).
North Bend’s speech team had the top grade point among Class 4A schools (3.71), but the Bulldogs did not get a top-10 award for the sport because all classifications are considered together in that activity.
Marshfield’s track and field teams both reportedly would have ranked in the top 10, but their information was not submitted in time.
