COOS BAY — Dayton’s girls advanced to the championship game at the Class 3A state tournament for the fourth straight year, beating Rainier 55-31 in the semifinals at Marshfield High School on Friday.

The Pirates meet top-ranked Salem Academy in the championship game at 7 p.m. Saturday.

After Rainier scored the opening point, Dayton finished the first quarter on a 16-0 run. The lead ballooned to 21 when Malina Ray hit a pair of 3-pointers to open the second quarter and Rainier never challenged.

Kalina Rojas led Dayton with 16 points, while Ray hit four 3-pointers and scored 14. Shawnie Spink added 13.

Reese Schimmel led Rainier with nine points. Desi Hansen had 10 rebounds.

The Columbians meet Blanchet in the third-place game Saturday.
