Blanchet Catholic's boys pose with their third-place trophy at the state tournament Saturday. 

COOS BAY — Blanchet Catholic used a big run bridging the third and fourth quarters and beat Santiam Christian 52-45 in the third-place boys game at the Class 3A state tournament on Saturday.

The Eagles led 32-27 when RJ Veliz and Mike Bashaw took over for Blanchet Catholic.

They combined on a 10-0 run to end the third quarter and then on a 7-0 spurt early in the fourth as Blanchet Catholic took the lead for good. By the end of the game, Veliz had 26 points and Bashaw 22, including several NBA-length 3-pointers and a breakaway dunk.

Zach Baugher had 16 points and Grant Carley 13 for Santiam Christian, which finished fifth.
