COOS BAY—Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, will participate in a round table regarding the Water Resources Development Act held by the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment. The roundtable will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 20, at the Coos History Museum, 1210 N. Front St., Coos Bay.
Ranking Member DeFazio will be joined by the chairman of the subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment, Garrett Graves (R-LA), and subcommittee member Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA), for a discussion titled, “America’s Water Resources Infrastructure: Concepts for the Next Water Resources Development Act (Part II).” Witnesses testifying will include representatives from the Ports of Coos Bay, Grays Harbors and Port Orford as well as local stakeholders.
The roundtable will also focus on the need for congressional action to ensure that funds collected into the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund are used for their intended purposes — the operation and maintenance needs of the nation’s ports and harbors.
The event will be open to media and to the public. However space is limited. The round table will be live-streamed on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure’s Facebook page.
