ROSEBURG — A man is dead after Roseburg police used a Taser on him Saturday.

The man, whose name is currently being withheld, died after officers from the Roseburg Police Department attempted to subdue him with pepper spray and a Taser at the Douglas County Courthouse.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the man had been jumping on vehicles and caused damage to the courthouse before officers tried to arrest him.

When the man reportedly refused arrest, officers attempted to bring him under control with the Taser and pepper spray. The man then had a medical emergency. Emergency responders were not able to revive the man.

The Douglas County Major Crimes Team has launched an investigation into the incident, as is standard protocol when  officers are involved in a death.

The Sheriff’s Office will lead the ongoing investigation.
