Another foreign gas corporation sneaking in under our noses?
Through December and into the new year, an England based global energy company, called Curzon, has started exploratory drilling for coal bed methane very near Coos Bay.
The methane the company is looking for is buried in the old coal seams near Davis Slough. The gas they want out of the ground is methane, which is well documented as dangerous addition to climate change globally.
The methods of extraction are known to cause damage to drinking water and spread contamination from industry chemicals and dangerous concentrations of chemicals deep underground. According to the companies permits and prospectus, Curzon Energy has applied for a permit to dump up to 132,000 of contaminated water DAILY into Davis Slough. This does not sound like a good neighbor agreement to me. Please write to our local leaders and express your concerns about another foreign corporation coming to Coos County and threatening our drinking water.
