Ballots for the upcoming special district election have been mailed and must be returned by 8:00 p.m. on May 18.

The World asked the candidates in contested races to answer a few questions about their background, experience and goals if elected. Their answers are in the articles below.

According to the Coos County clerk's office, any voter who hasn't received a ballot by May 6 should call the clerk's office at 541-396-7610.

Ballots can be returned by mail, and postage is free. Postmarks do not count for the 8:00 p.m. ballot return deadline, so drop box sites are also available throughout the county.

Drop box sites include: Bandon City Library, Bandon City Hall, Coos County Courthouse, Lakeside City Hall, Myrtle Point City Hall, North Bend City Hall and Powers City Library.

Editor's note: The articles below include the responses received by The World by the deadline given to the candidates. Any responses received after that deadline will be added as they are received.
