There will be a memorial service later this spring for Phillip "Mike" Micheal Noorlander, 79, of Manti, Utah. He passed away at his home from natural causes, Dec. 15, 2017.
Phillip "Mike" Micheal Noorlander born Jan. 15, 1938 in Inglewood, Calif. He enjoyed telling stories and jokes, making people smile and laugh. He worked for 33 years in the paper industry as a caustic operator and later as a pulp mill operator in Gardiner. He had various jobs throughout his life; plywood worker, dairy farmer, fuller brush salesman, construction worker, and temporary postal worker. He graduatated from Reedsport High School in Reedsport and then attended one year at Brigham Young University in Utah.
Mike held various callings in the church, Sunday school counselor, and teacher. Elder's quorum president twice, home teacher, Sunday school president of gospel doctrine class, and branch president in Christmas Valley. He enjoyed taking his family fishing and spending time with them. He loved being a patron in the temple and would go twice a week until he was no longer able to. He lived in various palces throughout his life until moving to Manti 13 1/2 years ago.
He married his sweetheart in the Manti Temple July 1, 1960.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie of Manti; five children, Sandra Dawn and Lonnie Vella Peterson of Logan, Utah, Margaret Ann and Terry Bruning of Dumfries, Va.,David Michael and Michelle of Reedsport, Susan Kim and Dean Cook of Junction City, and Steven Eric presently of Manti, Utah.
He leaves 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren with two more expected; siblings, Linda and Pete Mickelson of Manti, Utah, Steven and Carol Noorlander of North Bend, Judith and Robert Pulver of Layton, Utah; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents.
He was cremated and will be buried in the Manti Cemetery at a later date in the spring.
