James Daniel "Dan" Browning, 92, passed away Albany Aug. 25, in Albany. Dan was born May 6, 1925 in San Bernardino, Calif. to John Leveret and Loretta Barber Browning. He graduated from Marshfield High School and played on the 1944 State Champion Marshfield football team.
He earned a B.S. in chemistry, a B. of Ed. from University of Oregon, and a M.S. from Stanford University. He was a high school chemistry, physics and math teacher.
His first wife, Marjorie Bier Browning died in 1981. In 1984, he married Doris Groves Browning.
Dan is survived by his wife, Doris; daughters, Mary, Sally, and Susan; stepdaughters, Janice and Margaret; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie; his parents; and his nine brothers and sisters.
Dan will be cremated and laid to rest in the family plot in Allegany.
