Sept. 28, 1950 - Feb. 22, 2018
Catherine Ann Kahn passed at her Bandon home Feb. 22 at the age of 67, after a year of facing cancer with her characteristic strength and independence.
Born in Norfolk, VA and raised in her early years in Norway, Catherine lived a life of varied interests, careers, travel adventures, and close friendships.
Catherine traveled extensively as a young woman, visiting Afghanistan, India, Iran, Turkey and countries in Europe and South America. She came to the Bandon area about 20 years ago, leaving corporate finance careers in San Francisco and San Diego to take up blueberry farming in Langlois. After two years, she bought a house in Bandon and opened her trusted and successful business, Bookkeeping by the Sea.

The amazing and varied items collected in her home proved her passion for sewing, knitting, art, pottery, jigsaw puzzles, rebuilding antique light fixtures, collecting antique solid wood furniture, reading, researching and learning. Always with several projects underway simultaneously, Catherine was expanding and remodeling her home, doing much of the work herself and amassing an enviable trove of tools and know-how.
She is survived by her sister, Laura Almack of Virginia; and close friends.
She was grateful for the kindness provided by South Coast Hospice and her friends. Those who wish may remember her and her devotion to rescue cats with a donation to Kohl’s Kitty Kare, 1431 Southwest Blvd., Coos Bay, OR 97420.
