A celebration of life for Benna Caldera, of Coos Bay, will be held from 3-6 p.m., Friday, March 9 at the Salvation Army Worship and Service Center, 1155 Flanagan Ave., Coos Bay.
Benna was born Nov. 10, 1937 at McCauley Hospital in Coos Bay to Benjamin Arthur and Ronnie Lee Wigle. She Passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 at the age of 80.
Benna was a lifetime resident of Coos Bay. She attended elementary school in Charelston and graduated from North Bend High School. After graduating from high school she enlisted and served in the United States Army. After her time in the service she met and married Oliver Frank Caldera. The couple was married for more than 50 years. Together they had two children, a son, Carl Frank and daughter, Cathy ruth.
Benna was very proud to have served her country in the U.S. Army, she was quite a character and jokester and loved to play bingo. She was known as the "bingo queen" at Life Care Center where she resided for the past 8 years. She was very artistic. Benna entered and received ribbons for the artwork that she annually entered at the Veterans Art Show in the Pony Village Mall during the month of November. She loved listening to her counrty western music.
Benna was dearly loved by family, friends, staff and will be missed by many.
She is survived by her son, Carl of Coos Bay; daughter, Cathy of Coos Bay; sister, Ruth Davis of Boring; niece, Diana of Cottage Grove; numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Caldera; and four sisters.
