Honeydo Road fire

A North Bay volunteer firefighter extinguishes the remains of a structure fire in the 61000 block of Honeydo Road in Hauser Monday afternoon.

HAUSER — The investigation continued Tuesday for the cause of a fire that started in a garage at about 4 p.m. Monday at 68018 Honeydo Road.

The garage, its contents and the vehicles, a truck and a boat, were a total loss, said North Bay Fire Chief James Aldrich.

A Coast Guard helicopter spotted the fire and alerted emergency personnel, Aldrich said.

A neighbor, Jessica Kruse, said she heard three loud explosions prior to the fire department’s arrival. She thought it might have been from propane tanks.

Two fire engines, two water tenders, one rescue squad and a command unit from North Bay Rural Fire Protection District responded to the blaze. They remained on scene for about three hours and laid about 1,000 feet of water hose down the driveway, Aldrich said. He said they waited until all hot spots had diminished before leaving.

Aldrich said the residents weren’t home at the time of the fire, but were summoned by friends and returned.

The Coos County Assessor’s Office lists Clinton J. Jr. and Glenda Hacker as the owners.
