COOS BAY — Police have arrested a suspect in the Feb. 21 Subway robbery in Coos Bay.

Thursday, at about 8:50 p.m., Coos Bay police, while investigating an unrelated matter, spoke with Jason Garcia regarding the robbery, as he was a close match of the suspects description. During the course of the interview, Garcia admitted to committing the robbery, according a Coos Bay Police Department press release.

Garcia was taken into custody for robbery 1, unlawful use of a weapon, menacing, and theft 2. He was transported to the Coos County Jail and lodged.

On Wednesday, Coos Bay police responded to reports of an armed robbery that had occurred at the Coos Bay Subway located at 950 S. First St. The male suspect had threatened an employee with a firearm and demanded money from the till. The suspect then fled the area on foot. Coos County Sheriff's Office's K-9 Odin was unable to track the suspect at the time.
