BRIDGE — A Myrtle Point man was arrested Friday night on domestic violence charges following an altercation with his partner.
According to the Coos County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the 51000 block of Big Creek Road in the Bridge area for a report of a domestic dispute. The victim had fled to a neighbor’s home and was there when deputies arrived. The victim reported being thrown around a cabin and strangled. The victim and the suspect are in a domestic relationship. Alcohol intoxication appeared to be a contributing factor.
Based on information learned during the investigation, Robert W. Thompson, 56, was arrested for one charge of domestic strangulation and one charge of domestic harassment. Thompson was transported to the Coos County Jail where he was booked and held in lieu of $15,000 bail. Thompson remains in custody as of Monday morning.
