COQUILLE – Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife will be temporarily closing public access to the Coquille Valley Wildlife Area beginning June 1 for construction and restoration activities. ODOT expects to reopen access in October.
Heavy equipment operators will be cutting channels in the Winter Lake tract and creating raised areas planted with native trees and shrubs for habitat diversity. The raised area will provide habitat for fish and wildlife such as Pacific lamprey, purple martin, clouded salamander and western pond turtle.
