COOS BAY — Lee Enterprises, Incorporated (NYSE: LEE) has named Jeff Precourt regional publisher of the company’s Oregon enterprises.
Currently publisher of the Albany Democrat-Herald, the Corvallis Gazette-Times and the weeklies Lebanon Express and Philomath Express, Precourt’s role will expand to include The World in Coos Bay and its associated weekly publications.
“Jeff is the ideal candidate for this expanded role,” said Lee Vice President - Publishing and Group Publisher Mike Gulledge. ”His past experience with the Coos Bay community and local businesses will greatly benefit him.”
The appointment marks Precourt’s second stint as publisher of The World, having served there before being selected as publisher for Albany and Corvallis in 2014.
Precourt began his newspaper career at age 13 as a carrier for a predecessor of The Times of Northwest Indiana, another Lee newspaper. He joined The Times as a graphic designer in 1997 and later served as art director, advancing to advertising sales manager in 2005. His career also includes serving as advertising director at the Canton Repository in Ohio.
Precourt is a 1997 graduate of Purdue University.
Returning to Lee Enterprises as general manager of The World is Ronald J. Benner, Gulledge added. Benner served as advertising director in Coos Bay from 2013 to 2015 and joined Precourt at Oregon's Mid-Valley Media Group as advertising director from 2015 to 2016. Most recently, he was Executive Director of the Coos Bay North Bend Visitor and Convention Bureau.
"I'm thrilled to be working with R.J. again,” Precourt said. “His hard work and leadership are tough to match. We'll hit the ground running, given our familiarity with the readers in Coos and Douglas counties."
