When asked to look back on 2019 and choose my five favorite photos, a couple came immediately to mind. The first winter storm surge of the season brought huge swells and crowds to the cliffs at Shore Acres and my timing as on. An opportunity to pet an alligator at the library was almost too much for Naomi Martin to handle. And it showed. Others revealed themselves after a bit of digging through my archive and killing a few darlings, as they say. I look for light, color and engaging compositions in every photograph I make. What I’m really after, however, are the moments that together tell the story of community in the Bay Area.
