BANDON — Coast Community Health Center is celebrating seven years in health care. Enjoy live music and refreshments, visit with staff and tour the clinic at the annual open house on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Drop by between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at 1010 First St. SE, next to the Bandon Shopping Center. Guests are invited to enter a prize drawing for fun, healthy giveaways from the health center, Bandon Mercantile Company, MarLo Dance Studio and the Old Town Marketplace. The event is free and open to the public.
The annual open house is an opportunity for health center staff to say thank you to patients, volunteers and the many organizations who support the health center's mission to provide high quality, affordable health care to residents in South Coos and North Curry counties.
The health center has grown significantly since earning Federally Qualified Health Center status in the fall of 2013. The health team includes patient services, nurses and medical assistants, community outreach workers, as well as caring, experienced behavioral health and primary care providers led by Medical Director Dr. Hank Holmes.
Coast Community Health Center's staff, board members and supporters believe everyone deserves access to high quality primary health care, regardless of their income. This year, the health center is pleased to announce that it has more than doubled the number of private and public insurance carriers on its preferred provider list. And, the health center continues to offer a sliding scale option for private pay patients.
In 2015, the health center began recruiting and training outreach workers to help patients and community members access a variety of health resources, including health insurance enrollment. Between July 2015 and June 2016, Coast Community Health Center enrollment assisters helped facilitate 405 Oregon Health Plan and private federal insurance marketplace sign-ups for families in Bandon, Langlois, and Port Orford, representing 1060 adults and children.
