CHARLESTON — What better way to enjoy a fall morning at the South Slough Reserve than hunting mushrooms with local instructor John Schaefer. On Oct. 24, Schaefer will provide 20 participants with an opportunity to identify at least six local fungi and teach the group how to harvest the edibles. Cost is $20 per person.
If you would like to join the search you will need to register by calling the South Slough at 541-888-5558.
On the day of the workshop, dress for hiking and the weather. You also will need a basket and small knife for collecting. Meet at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Reserve, 61907 Seven Devils Road, Charleston. Plan to spend at least four hours on the trails.
