Local chocolatiers Coast Mist of Bandon travelled to the Sixth annual Oregon Chocolate Festival in Ashland and came away with two awards.

Owners Kevin and Tara Shaw picked up the runner up award in Best in Show — Judges choice and won the category of non-traditional and innovative use of chocolate for a creation called 'Mother and Child Reunion."

Congratulations to Coastal Mist.

Cooking class on Wednesday in Coos Bay

Chef Jardin Kazaar is holding his monthly cooking class at Black Market Gourmet on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Black Market Gourmet is at 495 Central Ave. in Coos Bay.

Spaghetti feed March 26

The event, sponsored by the Relay for Life and the First United Methodist Church, will be held at the church, 123 Ocean Blvd., Coos Bay at 6 p.m. on March 26.

The menu includes spaghetti, green salad, garlic bread and dessert.

The cost is $10 and benefits the church's mission projects.

Wine and Cheese Extravaganza

The 16th annual event is scheduled to be held at The Barn in Bandon on Saturday, April 10.

Taste of Home Cooking School

A culinary demonstration presented live at the Florence Events Center on April 27 at 6:30 p.m.

The culinary team will focus on simpler, greener, and cleaner recipes. Simpler meaning using only a few ingredients. Greener denoting local and sustainable, using fresh seasonal produce. Cleaner being more natural and providing health benefits.

The Taste of Home cookbook, published specifically for the cooking schools, will be presented to every guest who attends the show.
