The city of Coos Bay has authorized SHN Engineering to perform geotechnical investigations for the proposed pipeline associated with Plant 2. Engineer Mark Amrhein, with SHN, spoke with reporter Tim Novotny about the work project.

He says they are drilling about 50 feet deep. They are going primarily along Ocean Boulevard, but "we do veer off and go towards the north a little bit away from Ocean, at the top of the hill."

The pipeline is proposed to extend 4.5 miles from Plant 2 to Plant 1. The survey crew will be performing investigations from June 10-20.

There may be traffic delays throughout the project as necessary; however, where required, flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic starting at 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
