REEDSPORT — The Reedsport School District is paying it forward for one of their own, collecting funds for the family of Dana Roane, a school district employee who passed away earlier this month.
Highland Elementary School and Reedsport Community Charter School have set up collections to help the Roane family cover costs associated with a service and related expenses. Superintendent Jon Zwemke said they won't turn anyone wishing to donate away, and any money received will be passed on directly to the family.
"On behalf of the family, thank you in advance for any assistance you provide," he said.

Roane passed away on Feb. 1. He was head custodian at HES and RCCS for many years. In an announcement, Zwemke stated that "the entire organization mourns this unexpected loss … Dana was loved by all and the loss will be felt deep," and that the thoughts of everyone at the schools and district go out to the family.
Updates on the collection are being posted to the Reedsport School District Facebook page. A service is planned for Feb. 22 at 3 p.m. in the Pacific Auditorium.
