REEDSPORT -- In late October, Mayor Linda McCollum and Councilor DeeDee Murphy traveled to Salem to receive an award from the State Organization for Boating Access on behalf of the City of Reedsport, for the renovations to the Rainbow Plaza boat launch.
During the November meeting of the Reedsport City Council, McCollum noted that the Marine Board decided the city's renovations were too good for any of the awards they were selecting for at the time and presented Reedsport with their President's Award. She said this is the third time they've presented the award.

The award was presented for the city "enhancing the recreational and boating experiences at a boating access area on the Umpqua River through collaboration and partnership." The project resulting in a long life span and less maintenance needs, and incorporating up-to-date safety and accessibility standards.
