Bro Puckett had a hole-in-one to highlight the Saturday Skins competition at Bandon Crossings over the weekend.
Puckett’s ace came on No. 11.
He and partner Brett McGilvery tied for low-net for the day with the pair of Sam Ayotte and Kent Harper, both with scores of 61, on a day when the format was a scramble.
Donny Hiebing and Daniel Kitayama took low-gross honors, shooting a 13-under 59 that was four shots better than the teams of Tim Palmer and Amos Baker, and Stu Blasius and Rich Stefiuk.
In the weekly Casual Fridays competition last week, Stu Blasius and Brian Church both shot 71 to share low-gross honors while Martha Blochlinger had the best net score with a 68, followed by Neal Cahoon and Dewey Powers with 70s.
The Casual Fridays events play into the race for the Crossings Cup and currently the top five are Phil Shoaf (46 points), Powers (41), Stefiuk (40), Carter Borror (35) and Cahoon (34).
Cinco de Mayo
The teams of Borror and Jeff Mihalick and Shoaf and Shane Morehead both shot 3-under par during the Cinco de Mayo tournament at Bandon Crossings on May 5.
The scores were impressive given the format. The teams played best ball for the front nine and alternate shot on the back nine.
The pairs of Blasius and Andrew Kimbell and Andy Hammon and Adam Burlison both shot even par 72 and Amos Baker and Hiebing shot 73.
The two teams that shot 69 also had the best net scores, with 67, which was one stroke better than the teams of David Kimes and Ray Fabien and Toby Stanley and Michael Shields. The pairings of Bobby Cox and Phil Bennett, Cedric Johnston and Bob Bray, and Marilyn Pothier and Martha Blochlinger all had net scores of 70.
