SOUTH COAST — The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a high wind warning, upgraded from a high wind watch that was issued earlier today. The high wind warning is in effect from 1 p.m. Monday to 4 a.m. Tuesday.
Winds, expected from the south at 35 to 45 mph with gusts of 55 to 70 mph are expected late Monday morning through early Tuesday morning. Winds are expected to peak late Monday night into the predawn hours of Tuesday morning. Locations include Harbor, Brookings, Gold Beach, Port Orford and Bandon, as well as the coastal headlands.
Driving may become difficult to even hazardous along and near the coast on and near U.S. Highway 101, especially along elevated and exposed portions of it. Tree damage is also possible, which could cause power outages.
