Bandon’s volleyball team is on what coach Mariah Vierck describes as a roller coaster.

The Tigers played better Thursday in a win over Toledo, but then lost to Gold Beach in four sets Tuesday, 24-26, 25-22, 25-23, 25-8.

“We tried to get different players in the mix to get some momentum and nothing got it going,” Vierck said of Tuesday’s match.

Kortney Ferreri had 19 assists in the loss. Sarah Skeie had nine kills and Kennedy Turner had five kills and six aces.

That came after the Tigers won in five sets against Toledo, winning 19-25, 25-19, 25-21, 21-25, 15-6.

In that match, Bandon showed the best teamwork it has since its league-opening win at Gold Beach.

“We mixed up our lineup and got positive contributions from some players who haven’t seen much playing time,” Vierck said after that match. “I was very happy with the team being receptive to the changes I made.”

Kylie Lakey had eight kills, eight digs and three aces in the win over Toledo. Turner had eight kills, Ferreri had a strong night setting, getting several players into the offense, and Madison Berry had 23 assists and five aces.

Bandon also played in the Douglas tournament over the weekend, losing to Class 4A Phoenix in three sets in the first round of bracket play.

The Tigers visit second-place Myrtle Point on Thursday before hosting Waldport (Tuesday) and Myrtle Point (Thursday) next week, trying to get back on track.

“It’s a roller coaster ride for sure,” Vierck said.
