COOS BAY — The Oregon State Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. 2018 Convention was recently held in Lebanon. President, Gaye Stewart emphasized her project, “Planting Pollinator Gardens” in public or private gardens, to attract the dwindling bee population. The pollinators need our help. We kill our bees through pesticide use, loss of habitat, and environmental changes due to pollution.
During the Coos Bay Garden Club’s 2018 Town & Country Garden Tour, there are six beautiful gardens taking in the town and country, definitely showing off their beautiful pollinator gardens.
The garden tour is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4.
Tickets $10 (with map) are available at: Coos Bay and North Bend Visitor Information Centers, Clean Cut Landscape Center, and Van Tassel Nursery & Garden Design, 599 N Broadway, Coquille Supply, Coquille, Farr’s True Value, Coos Bay and Coquille; Hwy 101 Plants & Things, Bandon.
Proceeds help fund college scholarships for Coos Bay Area students.
The 2018 scholarship was awarded to Haley McDaniel, North Bend High School.
