BANDON -- A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Nov. 4 to celebrate the completion of the new equipment that has been installed at the City Park playground. The equipment replaced the old play structure that was deteriorating and deemed unsafe. The playground was closed for a few weeks while the new structure was put in place.

The Bandon Parks & Recreation Commission playground subcommittee recommended to the commission the expenditure of $65,000, which included the new equipment, as well as delivery and installation fees. Urban Renewal Area 2 funds were used for the project, with $100,000 allocated. The remaining $35,000 will be allocated as match money for fundraising to replace and/or install other City Park recreation equipment and improvements, or could be reallocated for other eligible capital projects.
