BANDON — A Roseburg man has been arrested following a vehicle and foot pursuit.
According to a Bandon Police Department press release, at about 12:14 a.m. on Monday, a Bandon police officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop when the driver attempted to elude the officer in his vehicle. A short time later, the pursuit was ended due to safety concerns of the officer.
The vehicle was later located, and the driver proceeded to turn down the dead-end section of Chicago Avenue in Bandon. The driver then attempted to elude officers on foot. A perimeter was set up with the assistance of the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Coquille Police Department and other Bandon police officers. Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy, K-9 Odin, responded and located the suspect near U.S. Highway 101 and Elmira in the brush.
Police arrested Gregory James Lee Gherghetta, 24, of Roseburg, and charged him with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, attempting to elude a police officer in a vehicle, attempting to elude a police officer on foot, reckless driving, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest. Gherghetta was placed into custody and transported to the Coos County Jail.
