COOS BAY — “Imagine Your Adventure” at a great party to help wrap up the summer. The 41st annual Bay Area Fun Festival, sponsored by the Coos Bay Downtown Association, will take place Saturday, Sept. 15 and Sunday, Sept. 16, in downtown Coos Bay. Enjoy fun activities that include a parade, shopping, tasty food, car cruise, the Prefontaine Memorial 10K Run, and live entertainment performed by the area's local musicians.
The Fun Festival includes one of the largest vendor markets and parades held on the Southern Oregon Coast. Vendors will line the streets of Central Avenue between US Highway 101 and Fourth Street. The Fun Festival Parade will wind through downtown Coos Bay starting at 1 p.m. Saturday. See which float will be named the best for their execution of the theme “Imagine Your Adventure!”
The 39th annual Prefontaine Memorial Run is exciting and brings people from all over the globe to Oregon's Bay Area. This 10K run honors Coos Bay’s native son, Steve Prefontaine, who changed the running world before his untimely death. The run follows his traditional running route and is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Pre Run for Kids will take place at 1:30 p.m. Sunday and is sponsored by Tower Ford.
If you enjoy vintage automobiles, you’ll be in heaven at the Rotary Cruz the Coos and Show ‘n' Shine sponsored by the Coos Bay-North Bend Rotary Club. The Show ‘n Shine takes place 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at The Mill Casino-Hotel with Cruz The Coos starting at 6 p.m. Travel back to those happy days of the 1950s with classic cars and trucks cruisin' downtown Coos Bay. Bring your chair and listen to classic “cruisin’ tunes” during the Cruz Awards lane, located near the entertainment stage, at Fourth and Central, where throughout the festival, K-DOCK Radio and Sound & Music present live, local music on the RockFest stage with music by Coos Rhythm and Blues Quintet, Aurora, Border Patrol, Toyz and Timberwolf. The stage is located at Fourth and Central downtown Coos Bay.
