SOUTH COAST - The Summer edition of SpotLines, the local area poetry and art zine, is available at book stores, art galleries and libraries from North Bend to Brookings and east to Coquille. Also available at those locations is a special youth edition of SpotLines featuring Quatrain and Haiku poems by Port Orford middle and high school students. Don’t miss these two summer zines containing poetry that will evoke your every emotion — from joy to sorrow and back again.
The SpotLines staff, led by editor Weld Champneys, celebrates two years of providing poetry and art along the Oregon South Coast. Four issues are printed each year with generous donations from the Curry County Cultural Coalition, Plumb Level & Square Fund, Bandon Writers Group, Langlois Public Library, individual donors and readers. The editor is joined by Bill Cullenward, Brent Pitman, Ava Richey, Russ Hepworth and Tobe Porter, who meet once a month to plan each issue. The group hopes to spend more time in the classrooms come late fall in an effort to foster interest in poetry and encourage more work by young poets and artists.
