BANDON – MarLo Dance Studio once again brings a family classic to life in a dramatic stage production of “Alice in Wonderland,” featuring dancers from Bandon, Port Orford, Langlois, Coquille and Myrtle Point.
The dance production will be presented Friday, May 8, Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10, at the Sprague Community Theater, 1202 11th St. SW in Bandon City Park. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7 p.m. and two Sunday matinees will be held, at 2 and 4:30 p.m.
Alice chases the White Rabbit to a wonderland of the nonsensical that includes hip-hopping Tweedle Dee & Dum, a mad tapping tea party, an exotic encounter with the lyrical caterpillar, and the eccentric court of the Queen of Hearts with her jazzy cards.
“The ballet this season takes a broad turn toward contemporary style with music selections being broad overall,” said MarLo Dance Studio owner and creative director Maria Merriam. “The length of the show is fast paced and family friendly. In MarLo tradition, the lavish scenery and costumes are again over the top. A certain treat for the holiday weekend.”
Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for children 10 and younger and are available at Hennick's Home Center and Bandon Mercantile and at the door.
