BANDON - A Bandon March For Our Lives event will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, March 24, starting at the Bandon Police Department at Bandon City Hall, 555 Highway 101.

"Democracy dies in darkness. Join us as we support the youth of America dedicated to ensuring school safety," said Bandon March For Our Lives organizer Susan DeSalvatore. "We will meet at the Bandon Police Department for a non-partisan march intended to keep this issue on the forefront. Bring a sign and bring your friends."

"We fully recognize that school safety is imperative in all regions of the nation," DeSalvatore added."This non-partisan march was organized to support the efforts of the students across the country who created this movement. School safety is not the responsibility of law enforcement and school administration alone. It is the job of all citizens to step up and become involved. This march is an effort to keep this issue on the front burner in our community and to explore ways our students, parents, faculty, administration, citizens and law enforcement to build relationships that will facilitate ongoing school safety.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own signs, although a limited amount will be available that morning.

"Our goal is to unify community efforts and is not intended to be divisive or partisan," DeSalvatore said.
