BROOKINGS — Southwestern Oregon Community College in cooperation with the Brookings Flying Club is offering “Drone Safe: Non-Commercial Pilot Class.” This introductory training will be taught by John Ward, a certified flight instructor and Unmanned Aircraft Systems Remote Pilot. Students will be introduced to the exciting new drone market, general aviation, and learn about the science of drones. Safety, responsible use of national airspace, air traffic, and guidance while using drones for non-commercial activities will also covered. It will include information about the process to become a Certified UAS Remote Pilot in this rapidly expanding world of drones.
The two-day class is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24, and Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018 from 3-6 p.m. at Southwestern’s Curry Campus in Brookings. Cost is $30, which includes a 6 hours of class time and handouts. Resource materials will be available for purchase.
