Youth Sports: Volleyball open gyms continue in February

Volleyball open gyms continue through February at Millicoma Intermediate School for all fifth- through 12th-grade players.

The program through the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturdays.

All participants must have a current Boys & Girls Club membership. The monthly activity fee for the open gyms is $20 and must be paid prior to participating.

The maximum number of participants for the program is 36.

Coach Wendy Johnson will be supervising and coordinating drills and skill training activities, as well as games.

Bitty Basketball will begin in February

Bitty Basketball, a program for boys and girls in first and second grade, is returning in February.

The program runs from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Boys & Girls Club. The fee is $35 with a current club membership.

Players will focus on skills and fundamentals while participating in fun drills and games. Scrimmages will be a part of the program, focusing on teamwork and sportsmanship.

Space is limited and students can register now.

Boys & Girls Club advisory board planned

To assist in the management of various sports programs offered by the Boys & Girls Club, an advisory board is being formed.

Volunteers are needed for the new group. Anyone interested in serving on the board is asked to contact Karen Bauder at (541) 267-6573.
