Southern Oregon University advanced to the NAIA football quarterfinals by scoring four touchdowns in the fourth quarter to beat St. Ambrose 45-28 in a first-round game at Davenport, Iowa, on Saturday.
Southern Oregon had three turnovers in the first half as the Bees took a 28-17 halftime edge. But the Raiders took over in the second half. Manny Barragan rushed for 192 yards and Austin Dodge passed for 307 yards and three scores.
Coquille graduate Heston Altenbach had three tackles and broke up two passes for the Raiders.
Southern Oregon will be back in Iowa next weekend to face No. 3 Morniningside in Sioux City in the quarterfinals.
Linfield 27, Pacific Lutheran 24: The Wildcats advanced to the NCAA Division III quarterfinals by topping the Northwest Conference rival Lutes on Saturday.
Linfield will host North Central of Illinois on Saturday.
Pacific Lutheran actually had more yards (339-249) and first downs (17-12), but Linfield forced five turnovers. One of those was a fourth-quarter interception return by Ty Robitaille that gave Linfield a 27-17 lead. Chad Coburn added two touchdown runs for the Wildcats.
