WINCHESTER BAY — The 22nd annual Salmon Derby hosted by Gardiner, Reedsport, Winchester Bay S.T.E.P. (Salmon Trout Enhancement Program) will be held Labor Day weekend Sept. 3-5. Derby hours begin at daylight and end at 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and noon on Monday. There will be cash prizes, raffles and drawings, sponsored in part by Cabela's.

Prizes include: $500 Cash prize for the Overall Heaviest Salmon of the Derby; $150 Cash Prize for the Heaviest Salmon Each Day; One $100“Blue Ticket” winner each day and “Red Ticket” raffle drawings. 

Tickets will cost $10 per angler or $25 per boat with three or more anglers. Advance tickets are on sale at Ace Hardware and Turman Tackle in Reedsport; and Salmon Harbor Tackle and the Stockade Market in Winchester Bay. Tickets also may be purchased each day of the derby at the boat ramps in Winchester Bay and the Rainbow Plaza boat launch in old town Reedsport. 

A no host barbecue and awards presentation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept 5, at the Salmon Harbor RV Resort Marine Activity Center in Winchester Bay. Participants need not be present to win.
