COOS BAY — The local bicycle event the Tour de Fronds was voted the No. 1 Supported Bike Ride in Oregon for 2016. The ride begins and ends in Powers, at the beautiful Powers County Park. The Tour is always held on the third Saturday of June.
Tour de Fronds is one of the most scenic cycling events in Southwestern Oregon. There are seven ride options (five asphalt and two asphalt/gravel) which range from 30 to 117 miles with varying degrees of difficulty and elevation changes on low traffic roads. There is something for everyone from the novice to the cycling enthusiast.
The ride is fully supported with friendly volunteers and ham radio operators to track all participants. A nominal registration fee ($40-$70 depending on ride selected and time of registration) will cover a continental breakfast, an array of tasty snacks plus hydration at the rest stops, and a delicious post ride meal with some serious homemade dessert choices.
Tour de Fronds is sponsored by the Powers Lions Club, an equal opportunity recreation service provider, operating under special use permit within the BLM Medford District and the Rogue Rive-Siskiyou National Forest.
