Coquille clinched a share of the Mountain Valley Conference and the top seed for the league playoffs with a 25-9, 25-18, 25-9 win over visiting La Pine on Thursday.

McKenna Wilson had seven of her eight aces in the first set for Coquille and also added seven kills and four digs. Abbey Dieu had eight kills.

Morgan Baird and Halle Layton each had six kills and Layton had three stuff blocks while Baird had two assists. Grace Sinclair had five kills and two stuff blocks and Jami Goin and Brooklyn Duble combined for 21 digs.

Kaylee Green had six assists and two aces, Kyra Howard was perfect in her passing in serve receive and Morgan Miller and Spencer Gallino both contributed.

The Red Devils can clinch the title outright with a win at Harrisburg on Tuesday.

Bulldogs top Trojans: North Bend rallied from a set down to edge Douglas 25-20, 14-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-7 and wrap up the Far West League season on a positive note.

North Bend finished third in the league standings at 7-3 and now will try to boost its power ranking with a strong performance in Marshfield’s tournament Saturday before looking ahead to the Class 4A play-in round.

Lancers sweep Siuslaw: South Umpqua swept visiting Siuslaw to cap its run to a share of the Far West League title.

Jenna Whitmore and Shalyn Gray had eight kills each for the Lancers and Sydnie Johnson had 28 assists in the 25-22, 25-20, 25-19 win.

The Lancers face co-champion Marshfield on Tuesday for the top seed into the postseason, including a bye and home match to get to the Class 4A state tournament.

Reedsport tops Toledo: Reedsport swept host Toledo to keep its league record perfect as the Sunset Conference champions look ahead to the postseason.

Gabi Parker had 14 assists, two aces, four kills and three digs for Reedsport. Gabby Clark had 11 kills, Kaylee Stoltey had five kills and six digs, Jaedyn Mast had 12 digs and Michelle Martin and Essie Cardoso added 11 digs each. 

The Brave had clinched a share of the title before Thursday but now lead the standings by four games after Myrtle Point lost for the second time this week. They will host a game in the Class 2A playoffs, provided their power ranking stays in the top 16.

Tigers tip Bobcats: Bandon edged Myrtle Point 25-18, 21-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-12 to tighten up the race for second place in the Sunset Conference.

Myrtle Point and Gold Beach both are 4-4 and Bandon and Toledo are 3-5 heading into the final week of the season, with the Bobcats hosting Gold Beach in a huge match Tuesday.

Bandon kepts its hopes alive with a big defensive night.

“Our blocking was amazing,” Bandon coach Mariah Vierck said.

Kennedy Turner had seven stuff blocks and seven kills and Sarah Skeie had four stuff blocks to go with 10 kills on her senior night. Setter Kortney Ferreri had 30 assists, five kills and 16 digs while Madison Berry had 26 digs and Brittni England had six kills, four aces and 21 digs.

“We played as a team, communicated well and just had a lot of fun,” Vierck said.

Madison Brown had 32 assists and six digs for Myrtle Point. Megahn Price had 17 kills and five stuff blocks, Elea Kenyon had 12 kills and 13 digs and Kate Pride had 27 digs.

Panthers win: Gold Beach beat host Waldport 21-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-13 to pull even with Myrtle Point in the standings.
