The Southwestern Oregon Community College men’s basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak, beating College of the Redwoods 91-80 in the Coach Tregs Classic at Eureka, Calif., on Saturday.

“I was just really happy with our energy level after dropping three in a row,” SWOCC coach Trevor Hoppe said. “To be able to come out and remain positive and really be aggressive was nice to see.”

One day after struggling to score in a 72-54 loss to Shasta College, the Lakers got contributions from multiple players.

Skyler Bradford had 24 points, Steven Price 19, Jacob Bingham 16 and James Walljasper 10.

“We definitely shot the ball better today,” Hoppe said. “I thought the pace of play was more toward our liking.

“We’re still figuring some things out. It was nice to have great energy and enthusiasm and get one (win) down here because we played two good teams.”

In Friday’s loss, the Lakers didn’t have any players reach double figures, with Connor Sailors leading the way with nine points.

The Lakers will spend this week focusing on the finals in the classroom before playing in the Dale Bates Classic in Eugene starting Friday.
