The Southwestern Oregon Community College men’s soccer team got its first win of the NWAC South Region season, beating visiting Chemeketa 2-0 on Saturday.

Jake Flatt converted a penalty kick in the 57th minute and Kuda Murasiranwa added an insurance goal in the 80th minute, assisted by Anthoni Martin. Tona Flores drew the foul that led to the penalty kick. Lia Bates had nine saves.

“We played very well today again and have been putting in some good performances,” SWOCC coach Brad Williams said. “I’m glad to finally have gotten the result we wanted.”

Women’s Soccer

SWOCC’s women won Saturday, beating host Portland 2-1.

The Lakers improved to 3-4-1 in league play with their third win in a row.

SWOCC hosts region leading Clark (8-0-0) on Saturday. The women play at noon, followed by the men at 2:15.
