Reedsport’s football team opened the season with a shutout Friday night, blanking visiting Argyle 35-0.

The Brave is spending this week preparing to face one of the teams that beat Reedsport last year. Amity visits on Friday night with a 7 p.m. kickoff.

The win over the Canadian team was a good start.

The Brave rolled up a little over 300 yards of offense and forced three turnovers on defense, one that was a touchdown.

Colby Fowler opened the scoring for Reedsport with a short run, followed by Marc Chaney’s two-point conversion run. Later in the first quarter, Javier Analco recovered an Argyle fumble for a touchdown and converted the extra point kick for a 15-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Chaney connected with Analco on a 13-yard touchdown pass.

The final two touchdowns came in the third quarter, on runs by Tanner Eckley and Gage Billings.

During the preseason, Reedsport coach Lynn Fulps talked about how excited he was for Eckley and Fowler, who are splitting time between fullback and the offensive line.

Billings, Reedsport’s speedster, led the rushing attack with 81 yards, while Eckley ran for 47 and Korde Parmenter 38. Chaney completed 4 of 9 passes for 43 yards.

In addition to Analco’s fumble recovery, the Brave also got interceptions by Korde Parmenter and Austin Manicke.

Last fall, Reedsport lost at Amity 18-6. The Warriors opened this season with a 14-0 win over Irrigon at Hood River on Friday.

Reedsport will be home for the third straight week next week, hosting Glide, another Class 3A school.
