Reedsport’s volleyball team has a busy week, including the sixth-annual Les Schwab Reedsport Invitational, which typically draws a strong field.

To date, Reedsport has only played its preseason jamboree, but the Brave will visit Glide on Wednesday and host defending Class 1A champion Country Christian on Thursday.

Saturday’s tournament includes Crow, Weston-McEwen, Grant Union, Oakridge, Central Linn, St. Paul and North Douglas.

Weston-McEwen is the defending Class 2A state champion and North Douglas lost the Class 1A championship match to Country Christian.

Grant Union placed third in the Class 2A tournament while Central Linn beat Reedsport in the fourth-place match and St. Paul also was in the tournament. Oakridge lost to St. Paul in the playoff round, meaning only Crow among the eight teams in Saturday’s tournament was not in the postseason last year.

The tournament starts at 10 a.m. in both gyms in the high school. Reedsport faces Crow on the main floor and North Douglas battles Weston-McEwen in the auxiliary gym at 10, followed by St. Paul vs. Grant Union on the main floor and Oakridge vs. Central Linn in the auxiliary gym at 11:30.

All matches are played in a best two sets out of three format.

Admission for the day is $5 and concessions will be available.
