Reedsport’s volleyball team entered the week playing the waiting game after completing a perfect run through the Sunset Conference last week.

Reedsport knew it would be hosting a playoff game Saturday for a spot in the Class 2A state tournament, but the foe wouldn’t officially be determined until Tuesday night (after the press deadline for the Umpqua Post).

It appeared the Brave would be hosting Heppner, which is the No. 2 seed out of the Columbia Basin Conference after sharing the title with top-ranked Culver and losing to the Bulldogs in the seeding game.

Reedsport was a perfect 10-0 in league play, finishing the unbeaten run with wins over Waldport and Bandon last week.

Against Waldport, Reedsport won 25-10, 25-20, 25-14.

Mast had 10 aces and an assists in the win. Parker had 20 assists, four aces, two kills and a dig; Clark had 11 kills; and Alyssa Neves had seven kills.

In the regular-season finale, the Brave bounced back from an opening-set loss to Bandon to beat the Tigers 24-26, 25-16, 14-11, 25-13.

Gabby Clark had 12 kills, two aces and six digs on a night she was honored with five senior teammates.

Gabi Parker had 16 assists, two kills, two aces and three digs, Essie Cardoso had 11 digs and three aces and Jaedyn Mast had seven digs and three aces.

Kaylee Stoltey and Michelle Martin also played their final regular-season home matches for Reedsport in the win.

Reedsport will be the No. 8 seed for the playoffs. The Brave are trying to reach the tournament for the second straight year after placing sixth last fall.

Admission for Saturday’s match will be $6 for adults and $4 for students.
