WINCHESTER BAY -- As of late Monday morning, power was still out for 45 customers because of a vehicle hitting a power pole.
Central Lincoln People's Utility District Public Affairs Manager Chris Chandler this was a "pole with three phases of line on it. That's a major repair!"
The accident occurred by Highway 101 and Clear Lake Avenue according to PUD dispatch reports.
"We have 12 line crews throughout our district," she wrote in an email to the Umpqua Post. "They are all quite mobile and depending on the severity of the event, crews can respond from one end of the event to another if needed. Obviously the closest crews are called first and so on."
Law enforcement could not be reached by deadline for comment.
She said the pole is being replaced and that the replacement cost is being compiled.
As for the number of customers impacted, she said there were initially 416 meters and "we were able to do some switching and by 10:11 we had all but 45 back on."
"If any outage affects 20 meters or more, we put info on Twitter and Facebook," she wrote. "Customers are our priority and we work hard to provide them with excellent service."
