ROSEBURG -- In conjunction with the Umpqua National Forest personnel, the Little Forest Road is closed until further notice for emergency road maintenance and rock slide mitigation, according to Douglas County staff.
Workers will detour traffic through almost eight miles of National Forest and private roadways, where signs will be present, according to a press statement from Coleen Haines, who serves as the crisis communications and community engagement specialist for Douglas County.
"However this will increase drive time at least 30 minutes," she wrote.
"Because of the elevation and terrain, plow crews will be clearing the roadways if snow were to occur," she added. "However the cooperating agencies are asking motorists to use caution through the detour, around snow plows (if present), or to please avoid the area altogether, as safety is always a priority for the motoring public."
