Thank you for your front page coverage of one of the Coos Watershed Association’s youth programs and the very welcome assistance recently received from the Coquille Community Tribal Fund.

For readers wanting a little background: The nonprofit CoosWA was created in 1994 by a very diverse group of area residents (including my uncle) to develop and help landowners implement locally-driven solutions to interrelated environmental and economic issues.

Because the group doesn’t toot its own horn much, readers may not know that the staff (sustained by individual and grant support) has to date brought millions in state and federal funds into the local economy and implemented major cooperative projects that make our watershed more productive for all of us over the long haul. Thank you again for sharing our story.
