"Tentacles of Doom:" See it, if you can (ba, ha, ha!). For a tiny town, we've got a boatload of great theatre groups, but this troop explodes with verve and this tiny venure really brings you right in and up close.
Insanely absurd and bawdily improv-i-licious, this nut house of a comedy absolutely blew me away. Miming pretty much everything and including an excellently articulate narrator as well as wonderful lighting, I felt myself believing the underwater swim and fight scene, the tight spaces of the imagined elevator, and the emotional volatility of all the science types — all beautifully high strung in their humanity.
I have a feeling that this group rehearsed to an insane degree and loved those rehearsals beyond reason because the flow amongst the troop for all scenes, regardless of members in the scene, was top notch. If this comedy group were an emergency medical team arriving in my hour of greatest need, I'd wake up bionic. They were 'so' excellent, as a team.
I hope this troop names itself and continues with more shows. Maybe they will teach the rest of us how to improv. Wow, wow, wow!
There's one weekend left and only about 20 seats in this tiny and very intimate theatrical event. Look for it online at EventBright or go in and ask the staff if there are any tickets left. I'm just a fan, I wasn't until last night. See for yourself ... if you can!
